Battin Optical is a third-generation, family-owned eye care practice serving Western New York since 1952. We offer comprehensive eye exams, advanced diagnostics, personalized treatment plans, and a wide selection of eyewear. Our experienced optometrists and opticians are committed to delivering trusted, individualized care to help every patient see clearly and comfortably.

At Battin Eyecare, comprehensive eye exams are provided to assess your vision and overall eye health. The exam includes a detailed evaluation of your eyesight, checks for conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration, and addresses any concerns regarding visual comfort. Using advanced diagnostic tools, Battin Eyecare ensures precise prescriptions for glasses or contact lenses and provides personalized recommendations for eye care.
Whether it's your first eye exam or a routine check-up, the team is committed to offering thorough, professional care to maintain optimal eye health.

70% of learning is through the visual system. Having good visual acuity, or being able to read the eye chart, is only one aspect of having great vision. Visual skills such as eye alignment, eye focusing, and eye tracking are crucial for learning, sports, and completing various daily tasks efficiently. If you feel that you or your children need to improve any of these visual skills, vision therapy can help. Vision therapy is an individualized, supervised treatment program to improve visual skills.
At Battin Eyecare, we can evaluate your visual skills, or those of your child, to determine your eligibility for vision therapy. We will then customize a therapy plan, including weekly sessions and supplemental home activities designed for your specific needs. Progress will be documented throughout therapy.

Diabetes increases the risk of several eye diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, macular edema, cataracts, and glaucoma. Early detection and consistent care are critical for protecting vision. People with diabetes should have a comprehensive dilated eye exam at least once a year, and in some cases more frequently depending on findings. These exams allow for timely diagnosis and treatment to slow or prevent vision loss. Management may include monitoring blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol alongside specialized eye care.
At Battin Eyecare, we work closely with patients and their healthcare providers to assess risk and track changes over time. With regular follow-up and proactive treatment, vision can often be preserved even in the presence of diabetes.

Myopia, or nearsightedness, occurs when distant objects appear blurry while near vision remains clear. It often develops in childhood and can progress as the eyes grow. Managing myopia is about more than improving vision with glasses—it also helps slow progression, reducing the long-term risk of conditions such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, and myopic maculopathy.
Treatment options include specialized myopia control lenses, such as multifocal glasses, soft multifocal contacts, or orthokeratology lenses worn overnight. Low-dose atropine eye drops may also be prescribed to slow progression. Encouraging outdoor time and balancing screen use are important lifestyle strategies. At Battin Eyecare, we create personalized plans with regular monitoring to support clear vision and long-term eye health.

Glaucoma is a progressive eye condition that can cause permanent vision loss if left untreated. The main goal of treatment is to lower intraocular pressure (IOP), reducing the risk of damage to the optic nerve. Management options may include prescription eye drops to decrease fluid buildup, laser procedures such as trabeculoplasty to improve fluid drainage, or surgical procedures like trabeculectomy or drainage implants in advanced cases. Because glaucoma often develops without noticeable symptoms, routine eye exams are essential for early detection.
At Battin Eyecare, we carefully evaluate each patient’s condition and customize a treatment plan to help protect vision and preserve quality of life. Consistent follow-up ensures that eye pressure remains controlled over time.

Eye infections may be caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi and can affect the conjunctiva, cornea, or eyelids. Symptoms often include redness, irritation, discharge, swelling, light sensitivity, and blurred vision. Prompt diagnosis by an eye care professional is essential to identify the cause and prescribe the right treatment. Depending on the type of infection, antibacterial, antiviral, or antifungal eye drops may be recommended. Patients are advised to avoid rubbing the eyes, practice good hand hygiene, and discontinue contact lens wear during treatment.
At Battin Eyecare, we provide timely evaluation and management to promote healing and prevent complications. Regular follow-up visits may be necessary to ensure symptoms resolve fully and vision remains protected.

We offer a wide selection of prescription glasses and contact lenses to meet every style, need, and lifestyle. Whether you're looking for designer frames, lightweight lenses, or daily disposable contacts, our experienced opticians are here to guide you through the best options for your vision and comfort.
We take precise measurements and customize each pair to ensure optimal clarity and fit. For contact lens wearers, we offer fittings for all types—including multifocal, toric, and specialty lenses—paired with education and support to ensure healthy wear.
Our goal is to make your vision correction seamless, stylish, and perfectly suited to you.
